Bella Coola River High Streamflow Advisory

The River Forecast Centre has issued a High Streamflow Advisory for the Bella Coola River.

The River Forecast Centre has maintained a Flood Watch for the Dean River.

A High Streamflow Advisory means that river levels are rising or expected to rise rapidly, but that no major flooding is expected.  Minor flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

A Flood Watch means that river levels are rising and will approach or may exceed bankful...

A Flood Watch means that river levels are rising and will approach or may exceed bankfull.  Flooding of areas adjacent to affected rivers may occur.

There are currently (Thursday May 10, 2018, 2:15 pm) no flood warnings, nor flood watches nor high streamflow advisories in effect for the Bella Coola valley.

On Tuesday January 23rd 2018 coastal communities in British Columbia tested their Tsunami preparation initiatives in response to a Tsunami Warning originating from a 7.9 magnitude earthquake in Alaska (originally reported as magnitude 8.2).

Canadian Red Cross Wildfire Recovery Support Coming to Bella Coola

Red Cross workers will be in Bella Coola to meet one-on-one with individuals and households that need recovery assistance from the impacts of the 2017 BC wildfires.
 
The Red Cross recommends that households register on the phone prior to coming down to the Moose Hall to speed the process, for any questions and to register call 1-800-863-6582.
