A forest fire has caused the closure of Hwy 20 approximately 20 kms west of Alexis Creek. traffic is being re-routed through the Chilco-Newton FSR to Young Road.
Total burning ban in effect for coastal areas
Warm weather, a lack of precipitation and daily winds have created extreme fire hazard conditions on the central coast.Recent weather conditions have made the central coast the highest fire hazard region in the province due to the high fuel loads found in coastal forests.
The Central Coast Regional District, in cooperation with the Centennial Pool Commission, is doing everything possible to facilitate the opening of the Centennial Pool.
